The Science Station in Kutaisi is an integral part of the Krukowski Center initiative. It is located in the heart of the city, not far from the main square with the famous Colchis Fountain, near the small garden with Niko Nikoladze's monument and local café.
The second renovation stage (building interiors) of the beautifully preserved 19th-century building is completed, thanks to funding from the Polish National Foundation and cooperation with the Foundation for the Development of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, the Polish Institute in Tbilisi, and the Polish Embassy to Georgia.
During the first stage, the roof was replaced, and the final stage - the renovation of the façade - is planned for the near future.
The Station provides accommodation for members of the archaeological excavation teams, scientific staff and specialists, as well as additional rooms for distinguished guests. It features a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious research area, a conference room, a small laboratory with microscopes and other equipment, and the Center’s Chancellery Room.
The conference room at the Krukowski Center Science Station in Kutaisi now hosts a permanent exhibition titled The Power of the Roman Empire: Achievements of Polish Archaeologists in the Roman East.
The unveiled photographs will now adorn this part of the building. The exhibition was fully financed by the Polish Institute in Tbilisi. Other contributors include the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the University of Warsaw, and the Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency of Ajara.
The Science Station is ready to admit researchers from all over the world :)
